A walk of discovery at the Canal

Self-initiated project, Glasgow School of Art, 2017

I explored the Glasgow Canal, a lesser-known area of Glasgow, ignored by most inhabitants. I created a discovery experience to allow a change in perception. People can participate in the Canal’s identity, based on a new experience, which will have revealed its unexpected aspects.

Fishermen at the Firhill Basin.

Quick prototyping and initial testing

Iterative testing to refine the experience.

The first device layers a view of the city with its story.

The second device lets people watch and listen to the plants talking.

The third device allows people to listen to the pigeons in the Doocots.

A guide to accompany the walk

A free brochure is distributed in various places of the city to suggest a walk to locals and tourists.

The guide suggests activities along the canal, as well as a plan of the neighbourhood to invite people to explore.

One of the brocure’s activities : collecting flowers.

Final test of the experience

Testing the complete experience with a group of potential users.

The installation invites people to contemplate the bird’s dances.

This installation gets people to look at the city with a different perspective.
